PTE

The PTE Academic Exam is widely accepted for both Student Visa as well as PR Visa/Migration for Australia. The exam is fully computer-based test, which makes it easy to book the date and there is no need to wait. You get the quick result time, which is an added advantage for Australia Migration. The PTE Academic Exam is designed to assess the English language skills of non-native speakers of English who wish to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. The test covers the four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking. Speaking and writing tests are integrated into a single test session and use computer-based speech recognition technology to score responses. Reading and listening tests are administered in a separate test session on the same day or on a different day.

PTE Academic consists of three parts: Speaking and Writing (together), Reading and Listening. There are 20 different question types, ranging from multiple choice through to essay writing and interpreting information. The questions types target specific skills, so you will be assessed on all four skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing. The PTE Academic Speaking & Writing section takes 77 – 93 minutes to complete. You will be tested on your ability to speak spontaneously and write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks. These tasks require integration of multiple skills, so it is important that you practice all four skills together. The PTE Academic Reading section takes 32 – 41 minutes to complete. You will be tested on your ability to read a range of texts and answer questions based on their content. The PTE Academic Listening section takes 45 – 60 minutes to complete. You will be tested on your ability to understand spoken English in a range of contexts and respond appropriately.

PTE academic has many benefits which lure students as well as working professionals to give it a try; some of these were discussed earlier in the article such as it being online, quick result time etc but there are other important benefits too such as:

  • It tests all 4 skills- reading, writing, listening & speaking under one umbrella & thus saves time & energy which would have gone into appearing for other exams such as IELTS & TOEFL.
  • PTE assesses real-life English usage & hence it is more practical approach towards language learning & testing.
  • It has got flexible dates & centers as compared to other similar English proficiency tests.
  • One can attempt PTE any number of times unlike IELTS (maximum 2 times in a gap of 1 month)
  • Prepares you for future opportunities that will require excellent communication skill in English
